Episode 014: 50 Shades of Grey

“What is the meaning of life?” is about as philosophical a question as there is, however we at the Tri-Pod would put good money on that being answered long before any body stumbles across a sensible response to, “what the hell are women thinking?”.  But the daunting task of answering the latter did not sway the Tri-Pod from at least trying to understand what goes on beneath all that makeup and hair dye.

Instead of taking on the whole we thought it best to chip at the edges this week, and over time we will work our way to the estrogen-filled center. So what edge did we start with, you may ask. Well why not tackle what has every woman acting like a 13-year-old boy who just found his uncle’s stash of Playboys? We are, of course, referring to 50 Shades of Grey. But the guys of the Tri-Pod did not just spend an episode bagging on a lot of hearsay. Josh and Travis lied down on the bearskin rug next to a roaring fire, and spent a whole night reading the novel cover-to-cover over a bottle of Merlot. Afterwards, they called over two lady friends, and spent the next hour and a half…talking. That’s right, in the first installment of The Tri-Pod: Girl Talk, we bring on Ashley and Jamee to discuss the book and try to uncover just how and why this has become as popular as it is.

Ladies, grab all your girlfriends and a box of Chardonnay, ’cause this foursome is about to get all Christian and Anastasia on your ass.
